My husband has a lovely watch which I bought for him when we got engaged. It has a lovely blue face and so he likes to get a blue leather wrist band for it. However, to get one which is the same brand as the watch it costs a lot of money and so I managed to persuade him to look for cheaper options. We went to a jewellers and they explained that even if you buy a designer strap they do not always last any longer than a cheap one. They showed us a selection of leather wristbands and some cheaper alternatives and we decided that they were not as bad as we thought they might be and bought one. It was less than half the price and we decided that even if it only lasted for half the time of the branded one then it would be good value for money. At the moment it is lasting really well so it might even outlast the branded one we will just have to wait and see. If it is good then it is unlikely that we will buy a branded one again.
